Add your resume
Go to the Resumes tab. Upload a PDF or DOCX, paste the text of an existing resume to save it as a named profile, or click Build from Scratch to create one with the guided form. No existing resume required.

Add a job
Three ways to add a job on the Generate tab:
Browser extension (easiest): Install the Job Tailor extension, navigate to any job posting on LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, or any board, and click the extension icon. One button sends the description straight to your Generate tab, pre-filled and ready. If Job Tailor is already open, it adds to your existing batch.
URL mode: Paste a hiring.cafe URL and press Enter or Space. Add up to 5 URLs for batch generation.
Paste mode: Switch to Paste mode, copy the full job description from any page, and paste it. Works with every job board.

Choose your options
If you have multiple resumes saved, set the active one from the Resumes tab before generating.

Generate
Click Generate Resume & Cover Letter. The AI fetches the job description, tailors your resume, writes a cover letter, and runs a match analysis. Expect about 90–130 seconds.

Review and download
Check your Job Match Score, matched strengths, skill gaps, and resume improvements. Pick a template (Modern, Classic, Bold, or Minimal), then download your ZIP with the tailored resume and cover letter.

Application Tracker
Every generation auto-creates a tracker entry at "Applied." Move it through five stages: Applied, Phone Screen, Interview, Offer, or Rejected. When you reach Phone Screen or Interview, a Generate Interview Prep button appears on the card. Click it to get a personalized 15-question guide based on the actual job description and your tailored resume.

Every package you generate is saved to your account. Re-download, switch templates, view the resume diff, or inspect the match score for any past generation at any time from the History tab.

A Windows desktop companion included with Pro+. It listens to your interview audio, detects questions in real time, and streams structured answer frameworks into a floating overlay invisible to screen share. Sign in with your Job Tailor account, no separate API keys needed. Download from the footer.
Tips & Tricks
Use the browser extension. Install the Job Tailor Chrome extension and you'll never need to copy-paste a job description again. Browse LinkedIn, Indeed, or any job board, click the extension icon, and the description lands in your Generate tab instantly. You can capture up to 5 jobs from different tabs and they all stack as chips in the same session.
URL not working? Some job boards block scrapers. Switch to Paste mode, copy the full job description from the page, and paste it directly. It always works regardless of the board.
Use batch mode to compare. Add multiple versions of the same role from different companies at once. You'll get a match score for each, making it easy to see which fits your profile best before applying.
Template switching is instant. You don't need to re-generate to try a different look. Just click a template in the picker under your result or in History and it re-renders in seconds.
Switch resumes without re-uploading. Save multiple resumes in the Resumes tab: upload a file, paste text, or build from scratch. Hit "Use for Tailoring" on any card to make it active. The next generation uses that resume automatically.
Don't forget Interview Prep. Once you move an application to Phone Screen or Interview in the Tracker, a Generate Interview Prep button appears on the card. It produces a personalized 15-question guide, covering behavioral, situational, role-specific, and culture-fit questions, grounded in that specific job description and your tailored resume, not generic tips.
Use Interview Assistant for live coaching. Available with Pro+. Download the Windows desktop app from the footer, sign in with your Job Tailor account, pick the application you're interviewing for, and click Start Listening. It captures system audio, detects interviewer questions, and streams real-time answer frameworks into a floating overlay that is invisible to screen share. No extra accounts or API keys needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Typically 90–130 seconds per job. The resume tailoring step alone takes 60–90 seconds. We use gpt-5-mini because it produces significantly higher quality and more honest tailoring than faster models. The Interview Prep guide (generated separately from the Tracker when you reach Phone Screen or Interview) adds roughly 30–60 seconds on top.
URL mode is designed for hiring.cafe. For every other job board, including LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Wellfound, and company career pages, you have two options: install the browser extension and click one button on any job posting, or use Paste mode and copy-paste the description manually. Both work with any source.
Each package is a ZIP file containing: a tailored resume PDF and a cover letter PDF. The ZIP is named after the company and job title automatically. Your interview prep guide is generated separately. Once you move the application to Phone Screen or Interview in the Tracker, a button appears on the card to generate a personalized PDF with a "Tell me about yourself" section and 15 role-specific questions.
A 0–100% AI assessment of how well your tailored resume aligns with the job description. Alongside the score you get matched strengths, potential skill gaps, specific resume improvements made, and an ATS keyword report showing which job keywords appear in your resume and which are missing. Use it as a directional signal, not a guaranteed predictor of recruiter response.
Add up to 5 job URLs to the chip input. Press Enter, Space, or Tab after each URL to add it as a chip. Click Generate and jobs are processed sequentially. Each chip shows live status (queued, generating, completed, or failed) and results appear as each job finishes so you don't have to wait for the whole batch.
Yes. Under each result you'll see a template picker with four options: Modern, Classic, Bold, and Minimal. Selecting a different template re-renders your resume in seconds without re-running the AI. The same picker is available in your History tab for any past generation.
The Builder lets you create a base resume from scratch by filling out a structured form covering work experience, skills, education, and projects. The AI formats your entries into a clean, ATS-friendly PDF. You can save multiple named profiles. Access the Builder via the Resumes tab. All saved profiles appear there alongside any uploaded file; click "Use for Tailoring" on whichever you want to use next.
If a job URL fails to scrape, switch to Paste mode and paste the description manually. If the generation itself fails, try again. Occasional timeouts can happen due to AI model availability. If you're consistently seeing failures on the same job, the description may contain unusual formatting, so try cleaning it up before pasting.
Interview Assistant is a Windows desktop companion app available from the footer link, included with a Pro+ subscription. It captures your system audio during a video interview, transcribes the interviewer's speech in real time using Deepgram, and streams a structured answer framework from GPT-4o into a floating overlay on your screen. The overlay is completely invisible to Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, and any other screen share. After logging in with your Job Tailor account, you pick the application you're interviewing for and the app automatically loads your tailored resume, the full job description, and the match analysis so answers are grounded in your actual experience and the specific role. No separate API keys or additional accounts are needed.
Your resume and generated documents are stored in a private Supabase storage bucket accessible only to your account. Resume text is sent to OpenAI's API for processing under their data usage policies. We do not share your data with any third parties. You can delete individual history entries at any time from the History tab.
Click the ⚙ settings icon in the top right corner and select Manage Subscription under the Account section. This opens the Stripe customer portal where you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period and you keep Pro access until then.
Free accounts include 3 generations per month. Each URL in a batch counts as one generation. Upgrading to Pro gives you unlimited generations with no monthly cap.
